No:3. According to Audit Bureau of Circulations (India), TOI is the third-largest newspaper in India on the basis of circulation and largest selling English language daily in the world.
No:4. It is headquartered in Mumbai, India.
No:5. In 1991, it was ranked amongst the world’s six best newspapers by BBC.
No:6. TOI is published by Bennett, Coleman & Company Limited which is owned by the Sahu Jain family.
No:7. Mrs Indu Jain is the current Chairperson of Times of India.
No:8. TOI comes with various city-specific supplements such as Delhi Times, Bombay Times, Kanpur Times, Meerut Plus, Bhopal Plus etc.

Brief History
No:1. It was incepted as The Bombay Times and Journal of Commerce in 1838, during the British Raj. It issued its first edition on 3 November 1838.
No:2. In the beginning, it published paper only on Wednesday and Saturday with news from Britain, Indian Subcontinent and the world. Its first editor was J.E. Brennan.
No:3. In 1850, it started publishing daily editions.
No:4. In 1861, it was rename The Times of India.
No:5. In 1892, T.J. Bennett (Editor of TOI) became the sole proprietor of the Newspaper and he invited F.W. Coleman to enter into a partnership.
No:6. After 1947, when India got Independence, the ownership of the TOI was passed on to the Dalmiyas and later it was passed on to the Sahu Shanti Prasad Jain of the Sahu Jain Group.
No:7. In 2006, it acquired Vijayanand Printers Limited (VPL).
No:8. On 12 April 2008, it introduced a Chennai edition.
No:9. In February 2013, it introduced a Kolhapur edition.
