Full Form of NCC : National Cadet Corps

What is the full form of NCC ?

No:1. NCC stands for National Cadet Corps.
No:2. It is the Military cadet corps of India that provides basic military training to the students of schools and colleges.
No:3. It comprises Army, Navy and Air Force.
No:4. It aims to groom students into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
No:5. It is headquartered in Delhi and its directorates are located in different states of India.
No:6. As of the July 2017, Lt Gen Vinod Vashisht is the Director General of National Cadet Corps (NCC).
No:7. The official song of NCC is titled “Ham Sabh Bhartiya Hain”.
No:8. It is written by Sudarshan Faakir.
No:9. The trained NCC students are not liable to join active military services after completing the training.

Motto

No:1. The Motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline”.
No:2. In living up to its motto, it acts as a cohesive force of the nation that brings together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and grooms them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.

NCC Flag

No:1. The existing NCC flag was introduced in 1954.
No:2. It has three colors: Red, Dark Blue and Light Blue.
No:3. These colors depict the three services of the Corps, i.e. red represents the Army, deep blue represents the Navy and the light blue represents the Air Force.
No:4. In the centre, it has three letters NCC encircled by a garland of lotus.

The activities of NCC are guide by core values, some of which are as follows:
No:1. Respect for the diversity in religion, language and culture in the country
No:2. Respect for Indian Constitution and commitment to contribute to national development
No:3. Ability to become a part of community development and social programmes
No:4. A healthy life style free from drug abuse and other unhealthy practices
No:5. Sensitive towards poor and socially disadvantaged citizens
No:6. Honesty, truthfulness, self-sacrifice and hard work
No:7. Respect the knowledge, wisdom and ideas

Brief History

No:1. It was first started in Germany in 1666.
No:2. In the early 1940s, Pandit Hradaya Nath Kunjru suggested the established of a cadet organization in schools and colleges at the National Level in India.
No:3. It came into existence in India on 15 July 1948 after the National Cadet Corps Act was accept by the then Governor General.
No:4. In 1948, Girl Division of NCC was established to provide equal opportunities to school and college going girls.
No:5. In 1950, the Air Wing was added and in 1952, the Naval Wing was added to NCC.
No:6. In 1963, after the 1962 Sino-Indian war, the NCC training was made compulsory.
No:7. In 1968, it again became voluntary.
No:8. NCC cadets served as the second line of defence during 1965 Indo-Pakistan war and 1971 Bangladesh-Pakistan war.
