History of NCERT
No:1. NCERT was set up by Government of India in 1961.
No:2. Its main objective was to assist and advise the State and Central Government on academic matters related to school education.
No:3. It was formed by merging seven existing institution. Those institutions are :
a). Central Institute of Education (1947)
b). Central Bureau of Textbook Research (1954)
c). Central Bureau of Educational and Vocational Guidance (1954)
d). Directorate of Extension Programs for Secondary Education (1958)
e). National Institute of Basic Education (1956)
f). National Fundamental Education Centre (1956)
g). National Institute of Audio-Visual Education (1959)
