Full Form of GATE : Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering
What is the Full form of GATE?
No:1. The full form of GATE is the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.
No:2. It is an entrance exam held annually in India for admission to postgraduate programmes in science and technology sector.
No:3. The exam is jointly administered and supervised on behalf of the Department of Higher Education of the Government of India, HRD by the Indian Institute of Science and 7 IIT.
No:4. It is typically performed each year in January or February.
No:5. It is a single system based paper that lasts three hours.
No:6. The paper tests the comprehensive knowledge of undergraduate engineering topics of the applicant primarily.

Eligibility criteria for GATE
No:1. Applicants for the GATE exam should graduate from a recognized board or university or study in the last year of the engineering degree, i.e. B. Tech, B.E. B. Arch, and so on.
No:2. Master’s degree holders or those in the final year of such programmes in any branch of Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Applications or similar.
No:3. An applicant is eligible by professional societies recognized by UPSC or AICTE, for instance, AMIE, AMICE as these degrees equal to B.E., B.Tech.
Objective of GATE
No:1. It is carried out in the field of engineering & science to obtain entry to postgraduate programmes.
No:2. It is a recruitment examination for entry-level engineering jobs.
No:3. The GATE scoring is used for candidate selection by several PSUs, examples, BHEL, BARC, NTPC, HPCL, and so on.
No:4. It allows the applicants to qualify for CSIR Laboratories & CSIR funded projects to be provided with a Junior Research Fellowship.
No:5. It helps to recognize and assist future engineers in selecting their research areas to be pursue.
