Full Form of UTI : Urinary Tract Infection

What is the full form of UTI ?

No:1. UTI stands for Urinary Tract Infection.
No:2. It is an infection of the urinary tract.
No:3. It is usually caused by bacteria and can happen in any part of the urinary tract like kidneys, ureters, bladder or urethra.
No:4. UTI is a common medical condition in females as around 50% of all females suffer from UTI during their lifetime.
No:5. The UTIs that affect upper urinary tract (kidneys and ureters) are rare but more severe than lower tract UTIs that affect bladder and urethra.

UTI Symptoms

The symptoms of UTI may vary from person to person depending on which part of the urinary tract is infected.
Common symptoms of lower urinary tract (bladder and urethra) infection are as follows :
No:1. Burning sensation during urination
No:2. Frequent urination without passing much urine
No:3. Cloudy urine or blood in urine
No:4. Strong odor in urine
No:5. Pelvic pain in women
No:6. Rectal pain in men

Common symptoms of upper urinary tract (kidneys and ureters) infection are as follows :

No:1. Chills
No:2. Fever
No:3. Nausea
No:4. Vomiting
No:5. Pain in the upper back

Cause

No:1. The majority of UTIs are caused by pathogens, particularly bacteria like E.coli.
No:2. The pathogen enters the urinary tract through urethra or anus.
No:3. From urethra it reaches the bladder where it starts multiplying.
No:4. The infection usually occurs in the bladder and urethra.
No:5. The infection of the bladder is known as cystitis and infection of the urethra is known as urethritis.

UTI Prevention

No:1. Drink plenty of water
No:2. Don’t hold urine for longer duration
No:3. Don’t use deodorants spray in the genital area
No:4. Eat fruits loaded with vitamin C
No:5. Wipe from front to back after urinating or a bowel movement
No:6. Empty your bladder after intercourse
