The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts many examinations across the country to fill numerous vacancies of different departments. A few major SSC exams include Combined Graduate Level (CGL) and Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL), Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and General Duty (GD) Constable, Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ and Central Police Organization (CPO).

In this article, we specifically compare two major exams which are SSC CGL and SSC CHSL. Both these exams are the prominent examinations conducted in the country as candidates upon the qualification of these exams get selected for Group ‘B’, Group ‘C’ and clerical posts in various departments/ ministries of Central Government. SSC has already released the calendar for SSC CGL 2022 and SSC CHSL 2022. It would help candidates get clarity on both exams.

SSC CHSL comprises of 3 Tiers in which there is an objective test, a descriptive test and a typing test or skill test

SSC CGL consists of 4 Tiers in which 2 are objective type tests, one descriptive test one computer proficiency test/ skill test and document verification

Tier 1 (Objective-type)

4. General Awareness

The duration of exam is 60 minutes and the total marks is 200.

Tier 1 (Objective-type)

Tier 2 (Descriptive Paper in Hindi/ English conducted through Pen and Paper mode)

The duration of the exam is 60 minutes and the total mark is 100.

Tier 2 (Objective-type)

1. Quantitative Aptitude

2. English Language & Comprehension

3. General Studies/ Finance & Economics (if applied for Statistical posts)

4. Statistics (if applied for Statistical posts)

The duration of the exam is 120 minutes for each paper. The total mark for Tier 2 is 800.
