Full Form of RAW : Full Form of RAW is Research and Analysis Wing.
What is the full form of RAW?
No:1. The full form of RAW is the Research and Analysis Wing.
No:2. It is India’s main international intelligence agency.
No:3. After the Indo-China War in the year 1962 and the Indo-Pak War in the year 1965 RAW agency was created.
No:4. It was formed in September 1968 under the guidance of Rameshwar Nath Kao with head office in New Delhi, India.
No:5. Mr. Rameshwar Nath Kao was RAW’s first Director.
No:6. RAW is indeed not personally answerable to the documents directly to the Indian’s Prime minister (PM).
No:7. The main reason for developing RAW was bad performance of India’s intelligence committee in the battles against China and Pakistan.
No:8. New Director of RAW agency is Samant Kumar Goel, he was an IPS officer of 1984 batch and elected as director of RAW agency on 26 June, 2019.

Main Objectives of RAW agency are :
No:1. Collecting foreign intelligence.
No:2. Encouraging counter proliferation.
No:3. Actively participate in counterterrorism.
No:4. Guiding Indian decision makers.
No:5. Developing India’s international strategic interests.
Brief History of RAW :
No:1. The bad performance of the Intelligence office in the battles against China in the year 1962 and Pakistan in the year 1965 was the most crucial reason behind the establishment of RAW.
No:2. It was developed in September in the year 1968 under the management of Mr. Rameshwar Nath Kao.
No:3. RAW started as a branch of the Chief intelligence service with 250 staff and an annual budget of around 20 million.
No:4. In the early 70’s the annual budget of RAW had risen to some 300 million, while RAW’s staff and workforce counted quite a few thousand’s .
No:5. Mr. Rameshwar Nath Kao had persuaded the Government to establish the ARC (Aviation Research Center) in 1971.
No:6. The RRC (Radio Research Center) and the Electronics & Technology facilities were introduced to RAW in the years 1970 and 1990.
No:7. The Indian Government has supplemented another signal intelligence service called the NTFO (National Technical Facilities Organization) in 2004, which has been later named as NTRO.
No:8. Under the Cabinet Secretariat, the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) is responsible for bridging, evaluating and reviewing intelligence activities between RAW [the Intelligence agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)].
