Full Form of NEET : Full Form of NEET is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.

What is the Full Form of NEET ?

No:1. NEET full form is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.
No:2. It is a single-level national exam carried out for medical students enabling them to get admissions in medical courses across different medical institutes of the country.
No:3. From the year 2020 onwards, the NEET exam has emerged as the only medical entrance exam that has to be qualified to get admission even to AIIMS and JIPMER institutes thereby to get rid of the multiple entrance exams that were held previously at the state levels.
No:4. The Indian government introduced NEET as a plan to conduct one exam replacing multiple exams that were being conducted as part of the One Nation One Examination policy.
No:5. It is an offline test carried out in a pen-paper mode, standing as the only medical entrance exam at UG level, to be following the offline mode.

Eligibility Criteria For NEET Exam :

No:1. The minimum educational requirement is clearing class 12 board examinations from a recognized institution to appear in the NEET Exam.
No:2. A student must qualify from the science stream with majors subjects as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/Biotechnology.
No:3. A minimum of 50 per cent must be scored.
No:4. One must qualify the NEET examination to take up a seat in medical institutes at the undergraduate level.
No:5. The minimum age limit for the candidates from all the categories is 17 years for NEET exam.
No:6. The maximum age limit is 25 years for the students of general category. While the maximum age limit is 30 years for the reserved group students.
No:7. Candidates are advised to go through the NEET eligibility criteria provided on the official website of NTA to get complete details.

Who Conducts the NEET Exam?

No:1. NEET is carried out by NTA(National Testing Agency) every year under the guidance of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
No:2. NTA only conducts the exam and provide results to the DGHS.
No:3. It is formerly known as AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test).
No:4. NEET completely replaced AIPMT from 2017 onwards.

Brief History of NEET Exam :

No:1. NEET exam was 1st proposed to take place in the year 2012 but due to various reasons it was postponed for a year by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and CBSE.
No:2. It was 5 May 2013 when the NEET exam was held for the 1st time in India for the students who seek admission for both UG and PG courses in medicine.
No:3. It was the 1st-ever medical entrance exam where more than 10 lacs students had registered.
No:4. On the 18 July 2013 the Supreme Court gave decision in favour of 115 petitions who appeals for the cancellation of the NEET exam.
No:5. This was particularly because the states, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal denied the exam stating that there were a lot of differences in the syllabus.
No:6. The Supreme Court of India declared the NEET exam to be unlawful in the year 2012.
No:7. The NEET exam was launched again on the 11 April, 2016.

What Is the Importance Of NEET In Seeking Admissions To Medical Courses?

No:1. Candidates who take up the NEET exam to participate in it with the intention of seeking a seat in medical courses.
No:2. Passing NEET exam with good score enables one to take up a seat in MBBS/BDS/AYUSH courses and many other medical courses.
No:3. NEET also provides a reasonable share of opportunities in other related streams as it is a fair and transparent exam.
No:4. Most of the private colleges all accept the NEET scores of students for admissions.
