What is the Full form of NCB?

No:1. The full form NCB is Narcotics Control Bureau.
No:2. NCB is India’s Apex Coordination and Intelligence Organization.
No:3. It seeks to tackle drug smuggling and prohibited substance abuse and its head office is located in New Delhi, India.
No:4. It was created under Section 4(3) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, in March 1986.

Charter of Narcotics Control Bureau

No:1. Under the Customs Act, 1962, the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, etc., to coordinate the actions of agents, state government and related authorities.
No:2. Execution of duty under different international agreements for countermeasures against illegal traffic.
No:3. Assistance in cooperation and universal actions against illegal trade in drugs & psychotropic substances by the concerned authority in overseas nations and other international bodies
No:4. To coordinate the steps conducted by governments ministries against drug addiction, like the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Ministry of Welfare, and so on.

Operations of NCB

Following its charter, the NCB performs various functions; a few of the key roles are listed below :
No:1. Coordinate the operations of multiple states and central drug law enforcement agencies
No:2. Assists the States with their efforts at drug law enforcement
No:3. The collection & dissemination of inputs from intelligence
No:4. Relationships with international organisations like INTERPOL, INCB, UNDCP, and so on.

Eligibility to become Narcotics Officer

The minimum qualification required to become a Narcotics Officer in India is as follows:
No:1. The candidate must be a  citizen of India.
No:2. The age of candidates age should not be less than 20 years.
No:3. The candidate must hold a graduation degree in any discipline. Preferred courses are criminal justice or criminology
No:4. The candidate must be physically and mentally fit
No:5. The candidates will have to appear for UPSC/ State Civil Services examinations after obtaining the required qualification.
