What is the full form of EPFO?
No:1. The full form of EPFO is Employee Provident Fund Organization.
No:2. It is a statutory body designed to assist the CBT (Central Board of Trustees) by the Indian government.
No:3. It is established by the Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952 & Employees Provident Fund.
No:4. It is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Indian government’s Department of Labour & Employment.
No:5. At various places across the country, it has about 122 offices.
No:6. Based on the number of applicants and the number of financial transactions, EPFO is one of India’s biggest social security organizations.
No:7. It supports the Central Board in the administration of a mandatory provident fund contribution program.
No:8. It also serves as a nodal agency for other nations to enforce Bilateral Social Security Agreements.

Bref history of EPFO
No:1. Through the Employees ‘ Provident Fund Ordinance came into existence in 1951.
No:2. That was later replaced by the Employees ‘ Provident Fund Act of 1952.
No:3. Currently, this case is known as the Employees Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.
No:4. It applies across India, except for the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Structure of EPFO
No:1. The organization is divided into many zones in India, headed by the Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioners.
No:2. At least one regional agency led by the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Grade I, is needed for each state.
No:3. The organization has been further subdivided into different-regions managed by the Regional Provident Fund Commissioners, Grade II.
No:4. Assistant Provident Commissioners support them.
No:5. In most areas, EPFO has also set up district offices with a Compliance Officer to monitor the local institutions and settle complaints.
