What is the full form of BMD?

Method of performing BMD

No:1. It is a non-invasive, painless procedure that needs no prescription.
No:2. It requires low radiation exposure, and throughout the test, you are supposed to lie on a table or bench.
No:3. There seem to be two kinds of scans for bone density :

A). Central DXA

In this type of scan, the torso’s hip, spine, or other bones are scanned by an X-ray machine.

B). Peripheral DXA

In this type of scan, the forearm, finger, wrist, or heel bones are scan by an X-ray machine.

Why is the BMD examination carried out?

The BMD test is perform to identify the :
No:1. Loss of bone density before you have a bone fracture.
No:2. Diagnosis of Osteoporosis (Severe bone loss).
No:3. The control of osteoporosis treatment.

When does the doctor suggest the BMD test?

The BMD test is prescribe as a preventive bone density clinical diagnosis by a doctor under the following criteria:
No:1. An X-ray that shows a bone loss in the spine
No:2. Back pain in your spine with a probable fracture or bone loss
No:3. In one year, the height decreases by half or even more inch
No:4. Long-term steroid usage, which can reduce bone density
No:5. The bone-rebuilding process can be influence after an organ or bone marrow transplant as anti-rejection drugs
No:6. Postmenopausal female at 50 years or more in age.
No:7. All women above the age of 65 are more sensitive to injuries.
